Field Measurement to Revised Fab Sheets in 30 Minutes: Warehouse Door Opening in Rock Hill, SC

NR Steel recently completed a same-morning field coordination turnaround on a commercial warehouse upfit in Rock Hill, SC. The project required new strongbacks to support cutting a door opening in an existing tilt panel building. After approval drawings were issued, the fabricator's project manager visited the site to field measure, identifying a positioning challenge: the design drawings had the strongbacks positioned directly over a tilt panel wall joint.
The project manager sent seven photographs from the field. Within thirty minutes, the field measurements were incorporated into the Tekla model, strongback locations were adjusted to resolve the wall joint conflict, fab sheets were revised, and the complete updated package was returned to the shop.
The turnaround kept the fabrication schedule intact. A field measurement question that in many workflows would require a formal RFI, a drawing revision cycle, and a re-approval before the shop could proceed was resolved the same morning it was identified.
